The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) becomes applicable for most companies on 30 December 2024. This regulation applies to entities placing relevant commodities or products on the EU market, or exporting them from it. They must demonstrate that their products are deforestation-free and not linked to forest degradation or legally non-compliant harvesting and trade.
The EUDR targets seven vital commodities, considered by the EU to be important in relation to the region’s consumption volumes and to deforestation risk: cattle, cocoa, coffee, natural rubber, oil palm, soy and wood.
