Background
With a possible postponement of EUDR, companies will have a little more time to get an overview of the EUDR solutions developed by the certification schemes, among others. Businesses can then better choose the solution(s) that best suits their needs and those of your customers in the short and long term. At the same time, you get the opportunity to collaborate with your supply chains on robust and cost-effective solutions, which may well take some time to implement.
Certification schemes are expected to play a significant role in the practical implementation of the EUDR requirements for due diligence, they can also become a cost-effective tool to fulfill relevant parts of the EUDR requirements. FSC and PEFC have developed EUDR modules and IT tools that enable certified companies to voluntarily:
- Add EUDR requirements for information collection, risk assessment and risk mitigation on their certified products
- Pass on claims to customers that certified products are subject to additional EUDR due diligence, which can help customers fulfill their EUDR obligations
- Maintain annual third-party auditing of its due diligence system for certified products
- Share information and documentation via IT platforms that ensure efficient and robust sharing, e.g. geolocations through all links in a certified chain
We will also introduce the FSC and PEFC requirements and IT solutions to share an overview of what is required from you and your suppliers to implement solutions and what is being developed to implement those solutions more easily.
For products not covered by the FSC or PEFC certifications, Preferred by Nature has developed due diligence tools and a certification solution that can complement the ones developed by FSC and PEFC.
Audience
The seminar is aimed at companies in the forest, wood, paper and biomass sectors that are directly or indirectly included under the EUDR. The seminar is also relevant for companies that are FSC or PEFC certified or those looking to become certified. Stakeholders from the forest sector or supply chains affected by the EUDR will also benefit from the insights shared during the seminar.
