Implications of the new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) for the forestry sector

The new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) came into force in mid-2023 and marks a pivotal moment for producers and exporters to EU markets.

Why is the EUDR crucial for the Latin American region?

The new regulation aims to assure EU consumers that the products they buy are not linked to deforestation and/or forest degradation.

This binding regulation takes effect on 1 January 2025, compelling European companies to demonstrate that their supply chains do not contribute to deforestation or forest degradation. Moreover, it will also help ensure compliance with the applicable laws in the countries of production.

In this free online seminar, you will gain insights into the implications of this legislation for producers and the different actors in the supply chains of the forestry and agricultural sectors, specifically for cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy and timber commodities.

A framework to strengthen sustainability and address new market regulations

We will also introduce you to the Preferred by Nature Certification, based on the Sustainability Framework. Developed by Preferred by Nature, this Framework is a robust tool built upon existing sustainability schemes.

Covering key sustainability issues, it aims to strengthen management systems through a risk-based approach. It has been thoroughly reviewed and adjusted to incorporate relevant indicators, ensuring alignment with EUDR requirements.

Participation in the webinar is free of charge and is open to forest entrepreneurs, supply chain companies, and anyone with an interest in the topic.
