Shuang Hu
Shuang Hu is a Sustainability Specialist at Preferred by Nature. He provides advisory services to a portfolio of clients in natural resource sectors, including timber, pulp and paper, and rubber.
Shuang Hu assists clients and suppliers in meeting legality and sustainability criteria through activities like mapping supply chains, collecting and evaluating evidence, and translating supply chain documents. He specialises in conducting risk assessments against the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and other legal requirements, reviewing due diligence systems, performing gap analyses, and auditing companies' internal programmes. Additionally, he researches and creates updates on policy and legislative changes to keep clients informed.
Shuang Hu also conducts desk-based and on-site audits of organisations, evaluating them against established standards, including Preferred by Nature certification, EUDR indicators, and Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™), as well as bespoke requirements developed in collaboration with clients. His audits extend to factories, mills, forests, and farms.
In his training role, Shuang Hu builds internal and external capacity by delivering legality and sustainability training sessions for client organisations and stakeholders. He provides expertise in chain-of-custody processes and traceability within manufacturing facilities, enhancing clients' ability to meet sustainability objectives effectively.
