Jacob Sterling
Jacob leads Preferred by Nature’s work in supporting companies to meet their sustainability goals by helping them manage sustainability risks in their supply chain from traded commodities such as timber, biomass, palm oil, soy, beef, coffee and rubber.
Jacob is a member of Preferred by Nature’s executive management group, and he leads the organisation’s Sustainability Advisory team. In his work, Jacob leads Preferred by Nature’s work in supporting companies to meet their sustainability goals by helping them manage sustainability risks in their supply chain from traded commodities such as timber, biomass, palm oil, soy, beef, coffee and rubber.
Jacob has served on the Board of Preferred by Nature since 2016, until he joined the organisation as a full-time employee on 1 February 2023. Prior to working at Preferred by Nature, Jacob held leading roles within A.P. Moller–Maersk A/S, most recently as Senior Director and Head of Ocean Decarbonisation and Innovation, where he was part of shaping the company’s ambitious decarbonisation targets and was responsible for driving the work on decarbonising the shipping business. Before joining Maersk, Jacob worked as a Conservation Director at WWF Denmark.
His academic background is in biology, where he specialised in biodiversity conservation in tropical ecosystems.
