Chloé Viala
Chloé provides advisory services to a global portfolio of clients in the timber sector and beyond to support them in sourcing legal and responsible wood sources. This includes delivering risk assessment and mitigation activities, to meet the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) and sustainability criteria
Chloé studied political science and law at Sciences Po, where she focused on international law, public policy and cooperation in environmental protection.
She began her professional career in Côte d'Ivoire where she implemented and monitored a legal forest management project, in conjunction with government agencies, private concession holders, NGOs and local communities. In particular, she participated in the development of the country's legal and technical frameworks and designed and delivered numerous training courses on forest management for civil society.
In 2019, Chloé joined Preferred by Nature. Here, she supports stakeholders in developing and strengthening responsible sourcing practices, which includes developing relevant policies and procedures, implementing due diligence and risk-assessing supply chains.
She particularly focuses on the evolutions in the traceability of forest-impact commodities, in particular digital traceability.
Chloé also actively participates in training and capacity-building activities in several formats and for a variety of audiences, including content development
