Restoring ecosystems and supporting smallholders in Southeast Asia

About the playlist

The rainforests of Malaysia and Indonesia hold an incredible wealth of biodiversity, including perhaps thousands of yet to be discovered plants and animals. As global supply chains expand their reach, the untouched forests and the secrets they hold are being cut down at an accelerating speed, destroying not only valuable biodiversity but also the livelihood of millions of smallholders.

Since the late 1990s, Preferred by Nature has worked with smallholders and supported the restoration of ecosystems in the areas of the world most impacted by deforestation and land conversion. And, for nearly three decades, we have been collaborating with scientists, foresters and local communities to protect and rebuild tropical forests in Borneo.
