Mikhail Rai
Mikhail is an international auditor and a technical lead specialising in Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) and SURE (SUstainable REsources Verification Scheme) certification schemes, with expertise in biomass certification and quality review.
As the technical lead for the Sustainable Resources (SURE) program and providing technical support for the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) certification schemes, Mikhail is responsible for ensuring compliance with the programs' standards and implementing the schemes' rules within Preferred by Nature. Armed with extensive training in forest management, legality, chain of custody, and certification protocols, he guides colleagues toward successful auditing outcomes.
As the lead auditor, Mikhail conducts audits for SBP, SURE, FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council), and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification schemes, starting from the forest and extending through the supply chain to the final product. Since 2023, he has been engaged in carbon certification.
Mikhail has been working at Preferred by Nature since 2018.
