Timber Legality Risk Assessments: Exploring the results and lessons
If you are importing timber into the EU, the US or to Australia, you must exercise "Due diligence". This means minimising the risk that you are placing timber on the market that was harvested, transported or traded illegally in its country of harvest. In this article we have gathered results and lessons from doing risk assessments in over 60 countries.
This article highlights some of the key findings identified in the 60+ legality risk assessments published on the NEPCon Sourcing Hub. Despite the uniqueness of each individual assessment we have learnt that there are many similarities and patterns, along with a few interesting outliers.
