SBP takes on a new name
SBP, the certification system for woody biomass, has changed its name to “Sustainable Biomass Program”. This follows the SBP Board’s decision in December 2016 to change the name in order to better reflect the nature of their business.
SBP provides third party assurance that woody biomass is obtained from legal and responsible sources. SBP addresses other regulatory requirements applied to energy producers, such as carbon accounting which has yet to be covered by forest certification schemes.
In connection with this name change, the system has changed its web domain to https://sbp-cert.org. Access to the SBP website via the old URLs will still be valid and automatically be directed to the new domain.
SBP has also rolled out its new logo with the same look and colour as the previous one but with the new name embedded.
We will be updating our NEPCon website and materials related to SBP in response to this change in the coming weeks.
