Ecosystem restoration matters – How Preferred by Nature supports the global efforts

About the playlist

From lush forests threatened by wildfires or deforestation to eroded agricultural soils, ecosystem restoration is now more urgent than ever before. We are losing forests every year and land degradation has affected billions of people across the globe. The UN has launched the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2023 to connect and empower actions worldwide to stop and reverse the destruction and degradation of billions of hectares of ecosystems. Preferred by Nature is also recognised as an official Actor for the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030.

With decades of auditing land-use practices to demonstrate accountability in the forestry sector, Preferred by Nature supports the global restoration efforts through our work of developing the Ecosystem Restoration Standard.

Through this, restoration managers can better monitor, evaluate and report on restoration progress of ecosystems in various biomes. The Standard has been used to support restoration projects of various sizes from America, Europe, to Africa.
