Coffee And Farmer Equity (C.A.F.E.) Practices is a verification programme that measures farms against economic, social and environmental criteria. It is designed to promote transparent, profitable and responsible coffee-growing practices while protecting the well-being of coffee farmers and workers, their families and their communities.
C.A.F.E. Practices focuses on the long-term supply of high-quality coffee and positively impact farming communities.
The cornerstone of this programme is Coffee And Farmer Equity (C.A.F.E.) Practices, which was one of the coffee industry’s first set of ethical sourcing standards when it was launched in 2004.
Starbucks® has been continually improving this scheme to measure the true impact of their purchasing programmes on participating farmers and producers. The programme allows Starbucks® to gain insights into the challenges faced by farmers and supply chain operations in more than 30 different coffee-producing countries worldwide.
