NEPCon and SOFRECO are shortlisted for a FLEGT project in the Republic of the Congo. We are seeking a well-qualified Team Leader to strengthen our project team.
Participating in an EU tender, SOFRECO and NEPCon have been shortlisted for a project in the Republic of the Congo. The key task is to conduct an independent audit of the national legality verification system, to verify its reliability and credibility.
The system should ultimately result in the issuance of FLEGT licenses from the country. It has been developed as part of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) entered between the EU and the Republic of the Congo.
VPAs are a central tool in the EU's Forest Law Enforcement, Government and Trade (FLEGT) Programme.
"FLEGT licensed timber is not yet available in the marketplace. Audits conducted by experts can help the VPA process along by identifying any shortcomings, enabling the VPA country to address them effectively", notes NEPCon Forest Legality Programme Manager Christian Sloth.
"The team at the helm of this three-year project clearly need to possess in-depth understanding of the FLEGT Programme as well as timber legality verification systems", Mr Sloth points out.
Qualified Team Leader sought
NEPCon seeks a Team Leader candidate with strong competencies for the task at hand. These include amongst others comprehensive experience within auditing, experience from Central Africa and French speaking proficiency.
Applications must be submitted by 1 March 2015.
Note: The availability of the position depends on NEPCon being selected for the assignment.
