The Rainforest Alliance frog jumps in Europe
European consumers are getting more and more familiar with the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal.
Whether they are drinking coffee at McDonald's, enjoy a cup of tea while flying with British Airways, or are simply shopping for tea, coffee, chocolate or bananas in their local supermarket, consumers are increasingly likely to see the characteristic seal with the little green frog.
The FSC logo and the frog
So far, the frog seal is mainly seen on sustainably grown tropical crops. Brands such as Chiquita, Lipton, Kraft Foods and Kenco Coffee are all offering products that carry the seal.
However, the seal is also increasingly used by FSC-certified companies wishing to differentiate themselves further. When used alongside the FSC logo, the seal shows that the company is FSC-certified by the Rainforest Alliance based on a rigorous high-quality auditing process.
The trend is most visible in the paper sector. In the US, Clearwater Paper has just announced a major launch of FSC- and frog-labeled tissue products across US grocery stores. And in Europe, an increasing number of printing houses are offering the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal along with the FSC logo on certified publications.
