Lidl launches FSC-labeled drink cartons on the German market
German consumers will soon become even more familiar with the tick-mark tree and the letters FSC.
Today, the German supermarket discount chain Lidl and the food and beverage packaging producer SIG are introducing FSC-labeled ice tea and fruit juice packages to German consumers.
The launch is taking place in Lidl's stores in Germany - a consumer market well-known for its high level of consumer awareness.
According to Lidl, the majority of fruit juice and ice tea cartons now carry the FSC label in German Lidl stores.
The supplier of the certified cartons, SIG Combibloc, is one of the world’s leading system suppliers of carton packaging and filling machines for beverages. SIG Combibloc has had all of its production plants in Europe certified in accordance with the FSC criteria for a complete chain of custody (CoC) verification.In 2008 the company achieved a turnover of 1,249 million Euro with around 4,100 employees in 40 countries.
Lidl is a German discount supermarket chain that operates 7,000 stores worldwide.
