FSC certified gin from Belgium
Old but still developing: The Begian distillery Leukenheide, founded in1883, can now offer bottles of gin proudly carrying the FSC label.
By obtaining an FSC chain of custody certificate, the distillery is able to make the most of its raw material for the gin - green pine cones collected in the certified forest Domeinbos Pijnven. The forest is part of a larger FSC Group that has been certified since 2006.
The certified gin adds to the pool of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) from FSC-certified forests that are sold with an FSC label on the marketplace. Other FSC-certified NTFPs include e.g. cork for wine bottles, rubber latex, nuts, and essential oils for medicinal or cosmetic purposes.
