Geolocation data sharing protocol
We have partnered with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to launch a protocol for managing geolocation data in global supply chains. This protocol serves as a tool to support global efforts aimed at improving product traceability and sharing sustainability information along commodity supply chains, while also meeting regulatory requirements such as the EUDR and other upcoming regulations. Using the protocol may help to accommodate the EUDR's requirements concerning the geolocation of harvesting plots.
Sustainability Framework tools
A cornerstone of Preferred by Nature Certification is the Sustainability Framework. While it functions as a universal framework, its power lies in its adaptability across sectors and commodities and at various points along the supply chain. The Framework can be used through a risk-based approach for modular evaluation of specific topics or directly as a performance-based certification standard. Preferred by Nature Certification draws from several existing international sustainability schemes and aligns with applicable aspects of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the EUDR.
Specific tools of relevance to the EUDR from the Sustainability Framework include:
To address the requirements of the EU Deforestation Regulation for forest and agricultural commodities, we have benchmarked 159 indicators included in our Sustainability Framework with the requirements of the regulation. Of these, we selected 46 indicators that can be used for verification at the forest or farm level, incorporated into a due diligence system, or simply as a guide to the types of law relevant to the regulation.
This Standard sets out best-practice requirements for organisations that wish to implement a Due Diligence System in conformance with Preferred by Nature Certification. It may also be used as a guide by organisations wishing to apply their sourcing practices with the EUDR or own sustainability policies or with regulatory requirements. This document has been aligned with the EUDR, particularly in the due diligence-related requirements.
This document outlines the essential quality management requirements for establishing a due diligence system. It has been designed also with a focus on the EU Deforestation Regulation, providing specialised guidance in this regard.
