More sustainable choices for travellers are available now on thegreenwall.com.au as the platform has now included hotels and resorts certified by NEPCon.
Updated (22 February 2022): Due to the pandemic, The Green Wall is temporarily closed.
The Green Wall aims to empower everyday consumers with information and services to reduce consumers’ impact on the environment. “The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set the world on a path for sustainable development and tourism can play a significant role in delivering solutions that meet some of these goals, either directly or indirectly,” stated Daniel Zelcer, Founder of thegreenwall.com.au.
“By making the choice to stay in a hotel or resort that has been certified by an eco-label such as NEPCon, travellers are choosing accommodation that has taken steps to achieve several SGDs,” added Daniel Zelcer.
Saúl Blanco Sosa, NEPCon Sustainable Tourism Services Manager, stated the partnership with The Green Wall provides ‘a great opportunity to promote NEPCon certified accommodations and connect them with potential customers through a platform’.
“thegreenwall.com.au is not just a standard booking engine, but instead, is a conscious initiative intended to highlight responsible hotel choices around the globe, that demonstrate a clear commitment to positively impact the environment, the local communities and climate,” added Saúl Blanco Sosa.
“We are very excited to have partnered with NEPCon to include their certified accommodation on The Green Wall, giving users more choice when searching for sustainable accommodation throughout Latin America and the Caribbean”, said Daniel Zelcer.
As an international non-profit organisation, NEPCon seeks to support sustainability goals in the tourism sector via its Sustainable Tourism Standards. Ninety tourism businesses have been certified against the standards so far.
