Ecosystem degradation has reached the far corners of our planet, from the precious rainforests to priceless reefs. A recent UN report found that more than 75% of the earth's terrestrial areas are substantially degraded. This has had a huge impact on biodiversity, human health, and economic well-being.
But there is hope. We are seeing widespread discussions on the importance of ecosystem restoration and investment on that. The UN has also declared 2020-2030 as the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration which is a chance to revive the natural world that supports us all. But the efforts need to be well designed, implemented, and monitored.
In this training, you will learn about what is at stake, gain knowledge and get specific tools for supporting the global effort of restoring the world’s ecosystems. This registration is for the Ecosystem Restoration and Services course, which consists of a three-day intense classroom training. The course covers the Preferred by Nature’s Ecosystem Restoration Standard and the FSC Ecosystem Services Procedure and tools, as well as international case studies from different ecosystems.
This course is conducted in English. Please ensure that your language skills will allow you to fully engage in presentations, group exercises, discussions, and examinations.
The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration can help to end poverty, combat climate change, and prevent mass extinction, but it will only succeed if everyone plays their part. Join us to learn how you can best play yours.
More specific information can be found on tentative course agenda. The training will be held on 3-4-5 October 2022 in Cluj, Romania. The sessions start at 8:30 AM and end at 17:15 PM.
